Notes

According to M. Etienne Ch. Mathey of Mathey Tissot, these clocks were made for M. Onesime Stauffer of Les Ponts-de-Martel. M. Stauffer took out several patents for striking and repeating mechanisms which included minute, five-minute and quarter-repetition. The movement ebauches were produced in artisan workshops in the Vallée de Joux, the platform escapements were obtained and the finishing completed by the Stauffer family.
