?Diana & Actaeon? Johan Georg Gigel Brin. Made circa 1730. Very fine and rare, silver-gilt, cast and chased double-snuff box with concealed watch with mock pendulum.

C. Cartouche-shaped, polished band, the two hinged covers and base cast and chased with scenes depicting scenes from the story of Diana within inhabited foliate borders, flush hinges, one cover for the snuff compartment, the other concealing the watch. D. Gilt brass champlevé with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, gilt brass mask engraved with inhabited scrolling foliage and shaped to fit the box, apertures for the winding, regulation and mock pendulum. Blued steel ?tulip and poker? hands. M. 52 x 40 mm, hinged, shaped plates, turned inverted baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, balance with mock pendulum mounted between the dial and dial plate, steel balance spring, the back plate with foliate engraving. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 91 x 59 x 19 mm.
