Piguet Meylan, Geneve, made for the Chinese market, circa 1815. Magnificent and extremely rare 18K gold and enamel pearl set musical watch in the form of a rose, with an automaton scene and center seconds.

Double body shaped case, enamelled overall with finely painted rose petals, split pearl set band and pendant in the form of a stem followed by split pearl paved leaves applied on the middle of the back. Small offset white dial with Roman numerals, a fine landscape painted on the dial plate with on the foreground, below the dial, a four coloured gold chased automaton scene depicting a lady playing the harp while a Cupid is playing the lyre. Fine gilt brass double train movement with a free standing barrel, inverted cylinder escapement with a brass escape wheel and a plain brass three armed balance. The musical train with a pointed disc mounted on a free standing barrel and 16 steel vibrating blades. In very good condition. Diam. 48 mm.
