Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1810. Fine 18k gold and enamel snuff box with an automaton scene.

Double body rectangular case with cut corners, the panels of blue translucent enamel over engine-turning ( restored) with champleve enamelled decoration on the border, urns and flower on each corner. Within a gold hexagonal frame, the automaton scene is disclosed by gold shutters chased with a composition of flower, urn and doves. The four coloured gold chased automaton scene depicting three Cupids forging and sharpening the weapons of Venus, is applied on the foreground of a finely painted enamel landscape. In good condition. Dim. 80 x 50 x 19 mm.
