Ilbery London, Nos. 2711 and 2744, made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Rare and fine 18K gold and enamel pair of pearl set center second watches with a special escapement in original red Morocco fitted case.

Double body "Empire" cases with split pear set bezel edges, pendants and bows, the backs with very fine painted champleve enamelled flowers on a black ground, simulating a "cloisonne" work. Glazed gold cuvette. White enamel dials with Roman numerals and Arabic minute ring, blued steel "variee" hands. Fine gilt brass movements decorated overall with chased flowers and scrolled foliage, Lepine caliber with free standing barrel, 8 jewels, duplex escapement, plain three armed balance with three blued steel mock weights. Signed on the movements. Both in very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
