Henri Berthoud, Locle, circa 1900. Rare and unusual 18K gold hunting cased keyless watch with double independent seconds and 1/4 second "diablotine".

Four body massive "bassine et filets" engine turned ca-se with a reeded band. Gold cuvette engine turned on the edge, engraved with a dedication dated 1903. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, Arabic minute ring, independent second scale and subsidiary "foudroyante" dial. Blued steel Breguet hands. Very fine nickel plated 20 ? double train movement with a differential winding, 28 jewels, two gold screwed setting, equilibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Very unusual double independent second and "foudroyante" train with push pieces on the band, one of the independent second hands can be stopped, released and set back to zero at will. Signed on the dial and the movement. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm.
