Thomas Earnshaw Invenit et fecit, N° 580-3023, bearing the London Hall Marks for 1801-1802. Very fine 18K gold pair cased pocket chronometer.

Double body massive polished outer and inner cases. White enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold Breguet hands. Fine brass full plate movement "in grey" with cylindrical pillars, fusee with a maintaining power, Earnshaw typical spring detent escapement with a plain three armed steel balance, diamond endstone and "sugar tong" compensation. Signed on the dial and the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm.

Very good example of a pocket chronometer by Earnshaw, with a "sugar tong" compensation, this watch was exhibited in London by Bobinet in 1976, N°8 of the catalog.
