Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1800. Very fine 18k gold and enamel diamond set watch with an automaton scene.

Double body "Directoire" case with a rose-diamond set bezel. Gilt braass cuvette. Small offset enamel dial with Roman numerlas and outer Arabic minute ring (hair cracks). Gold "lance" hands. Enamelled dial plate pain-ted with a very fine landscape with in the foreground a three coloured gold applied and inset chased scene of a cupid grinding the weapon of venus beside a flowing fountain. Gilt brass double train full plate movement with the barrels passing through the back plate, cylinder escapement with a plain brass three armed balance, polished steel end-piece. The independant automaton train with a going barrel. In good condition. Diam. 47 mm.
