Anonymous, (probably Henry Capt), Swiss, circa 1820. Very fine 18k gold and enamel quarter repeating musical watch with an automaton scene.

Three body "Empire" case with a reeded band. Later glazed cuvette. Small offset engine turned dial with Breguet numerals, Gold Breguet hands, the dial plate with a very fine enamelled painted landscape (slightly restored), in the foreground an applied chased three coloured gold automaton classical scene of a man playing the lyra and a lady playing the mandoline. Gilt brass full plate double train movement with fusee and chain, cylinder escapement. plain brass three armed balance, single foot gilt brass continental type cock with a polished steel endpiece. The musical train, also driving the automations. with a pointed cylinder and piled up steel vibrating blades. Repeating on gongs by means of the depressing pendant. In good condition. Diam. 59 mm
