Robert & Courvoisier, Swiss, circa 1800. Very fine and rare 18K gold watch with a fine enamelled automaton scene on the rear face and a special escapement.

Double body "Directoire" polished case, glazed on both faces. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals and a small sector for the regulation index (slightly restored on the border beneath the bezel. Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, virgule escapement with a plain brass three armed balance. The automaton train with a small fixed barrel, wound by means of the depressing pendant is similar to that of a repeating train. Very fine painted enamel landscape covering the back plate, with on the foreground an applied four coloured gold chased scene with two automaton figures, a hamersmith and a carpenter working near by an automaton fountain. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 58 mm.
