Very fine and important 20-carat gold and enamel agate and gem set pair case watch bearing the symbols of the Chinese Imperial Family. Double body outer case, the pierced and chased ruby set bezel with agate pannels, the heavily chiselled and pierced back with a small painted enamel portrait in a diamond set frame and two emerald and ruby set imperial dragoons, ruby and emerald set bow. Double body inner case pierced and engraved with foliage flowers and a mask. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel 'poker' hands. Gilt brass dust cap. Gilt brass full plate movement with column pillars, ' fusee' and chain, verge escapement, with plain steel three armed balance and an English cock, repeating on the bell by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 48 mm.
