Rare and important watch with an early form of balance spring. Double body silver case, laterly engraved with scrolled foliage, very fine silver dial with Roman numerals, the centre finely engraved with strawberry flowers. Fine elaborated blued steel single hand. Gilt brass dial plate, with palm-leaves engraved on the edge. Very important gilt brass full plate movement with ' amphore' pillars, 'fusée' with a gut line, three wheel train, verge escapement with a 5 leaf pinion on the escape wheel, plain three armed blued steel balance, 20 years later engraved gilt cock with straight line balance spring and worm-screw adjustement. In very good condition. Diam. 49 mm.

Very good example of a straight line balance spring, set circa 1670, on a very fine watch, made by an important Lyon maker, toward the middle of the XVII century.
