Minute-Repeater Vulcain, No. 27691, the movement by Volta (Maurice Ditisheim, La Chaux-de-Fonds). Made for the Chinese market circa 1910. Fine, thin, minute-repeating, 14K gold and polychrome enamel, pearl-set, hunting-cased, keyless dress watch.
C. Four-body, bassine et filets, both covers decorated in translucent Imperial blue enamel over wavy-line engineturning, the front painted with a portrait of a young lady, the back cover decorated with a flower bouquet, pearl-set bezels. Hinged gold cuvette. D. Silvered, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. M. 39 mm., 17???, rhodium-plated, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial and case signed Vulcain, cuvette ?VOLTA? (Ditisheim?s trademark registered in 1896). Diam. 47 mm.
