Minute Repeater George Reymond, Vallée de Joux (Switzerland), No. 15608. Made circa 1870. Fine, 18K gold, minute-repeating, huntingcased keyless pocket watch.

C. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets", engine-turned with reeded band, a dedication dated 1874 engraved inside the front cover. Hinged gold cuvette with engineturned border, glazed gold-rimmed cover to view the movement. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Gold paste-set hands. M. 19''', rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, gold wheel train, 31 jewels, wolf's tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band. Dial, cuvette and movement signed. Diam. 53 mm.

George Reymond

This firm specialized in fine horology and jewels between 1860 and 1878/9. In 1865 the firm deposited two chronometers at the Neuchatel Observatory, both received certificates. In 1878/9, B. Haas Jeune of Geneva won two bronze medals at the Geneva Chronometer Contest with pieces timed by George Reymond.
