A collection of Watch Holders

French, 18th century.Polychrome painted porcelain watch holder, of cylindrical shape, the outer part decorated with a group of branches, leaves and roses in relief, the detachable top, with a basket of flowers also in relief, discloses a hollow part, possibly used for keeping tobacco. The underside of the base is inscribed "M". This watch holder was most probably made by the workshops of the Compagnie des Indes, circa 1750-1770.
