French, 19th century.Carved, gilt and polychrome painted porcelain watch holder, serving also as an inkstand, the watch aperture in the middle is surrounded by a gentleman and a lady in late eighteenth century dress, the whole richly decorated with scrolls, floral volutes and ornaments in the rococo style.
