French, 18th century.Wood, tortoiseshell and gilt bronze, mantel watch holder, so-called "Boulle", underneath the watch aperture is a gilt bronze plate, the front with two hinges on the side which can be opened to place the watch, the top part decorated with Cupid, symbol of love, the whole richly decorated with floral volutes and ornaments in the Regency style.
