German (Augsburg), 18th century.Gilt bronze watch holder, on a tripod pedestal, representing two cherubs, one symbolizing the mythological figure of time, holding a sand-glass and a scythe in his hands, the watch aperture fitted with a spring claw, an owl on the top and a cockerel on the bottom, symbolizing night and day, all parts richly decorated with scrolls, floral volutes and ornaments in the rococo style.
