A collection of Watch Holders

German, 18th century.Carved and polychrome painted wood watch holder, representing Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, holding a trident, at his feet a mermaid blowing in a conch shell in the sea, the aperture for the watch to his left. A similar example is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
