Courtener A Strasbourg, circa 1810. Fine gilt and blacked bronze hour and half hour striking clock depicting: "la nourrice Africaine".

The movement is set in the faggot carried on the head by the negress with enamelled eyes and bearing hearings, a baby in a cradle hung around her neck. Gilt bronze base. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. Round move-ment with going barrels, anchor escapement, short pendulum with a silk suspension. Striking on a bell with a count wheel on the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 41 x 25 x 12 cm.
