Alexis A Rennes, circa 1690. Gilt bronze "Louis XIV" oignon with single hand central winding and mock pendulum.

Double body typical oignon case, engraved with an halflengh portrait, scrolls and mantlings (rubbed), later pendant and bow. Gilt bronze dial with Roman numerals on enamelled cartouches (the lower one slightly restored). Fine blued steel single hand. Full plate gilt brass move-ment, with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with a plain three armed balance, the mock pendulum fixed on one arm, gilt brass cock, engraved with scrolls, birds and mantlings, with a pendulum aperture. In good condition. Diam.: 59 mm.
