J. Nicolaus, Wien, No. 52, circa 1885. Rare silver cased deck chronometer, made for the Austrian Navy. In a fitted three body mahogany case.

Four body massive "demi-bassine et filet" engine turned case marked : " Kriegs-Marine ". Silver cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel " pear" hands. 24"' gilt brass full plate move-ment, 14 jewels, with going barrel, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, double sunk cut bimetallic balance with gold poising screws, blued steel helical balance spring with double terminal curve, free sprung. In very good condition. Diam.: 66 mm.
