Barrauds Cornhill, London, No. 9103, circa 1840. Very fine 18-carat gold and enamel pearl set watch for the Chinese market.
Three body case with fixed cuvette, reeded band, split pearl set bezel, pendant and bow, the back with a fine bunch of flowers painted on a red translucent enamel over engine turning, outer light green and white "champlevé" scalloped enamelled decoration, the border set with split pearls. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold "pear" hands. Gilt brass dust cap engraved with scrolls. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain gilt brass three armed balance, English cock with a garnet endstone. In very good condition. Diam.: 62 mm.
