Anonymous, Swiss, made for the Chinese market, circa 1820. Extremely fine 18-carat gold and enamel pearl set quarter repeating center second watch with music.

Four body case with enamelled split pearl set bezel, band, pendant and bow. The back enamelled with a very finely painted scene depicting a boy peeping two young ladies reading a letter (slightly restored). Gilt brass cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute and second rings. Gold "pear" hands. Double train gilt brass movement with free standing barrels, inverted cylinder escapement with plain brass three armed balance. Music train with a pointed disc and vibrating steel blades. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. In good condition. Diam.: 61 mm.
