J. W. Benson 25 Old Bond Street London, No. 25039, specially made for Jeswuntsingh, Bahadoor, G.C.S.I. Jodhpur H. H. Maharaja, circa 1900. Important 18-carat gold and enamel hunting cased moon phase astronomical watch with chronograph, in the original fitted box.
Four body massive "bassine" case, the cover engraved with the name of the owner and centered with its "champlevé" enamel painted coat of arms. The reverse enamelled with a painted portrait of the Maharaja framed with horse racing scenes (slightly restored on the edge). Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph rings, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the dates, the months and the seconds with an inner moon phase aperture. Blued steel "spade" hands. 18' gilt brass three quarter plate movement, 19 jewels in screwed setting, English lateral lever escapement with cut bimetallic balance and blued steel balance spring with terminal curve. Push piece of the chronograph on the band. In good condition. Diam.: 54 mm.
