The Calibre 89

The Calibre 89 is an open-face clock-watch with two main dials in an 18-carat gol d case. By accepted reckoning, the Calibre 89 has 33 complications divided into five mai n categories ? timekeeping, the calendar, the chronograph, the chime and operation - al functions . The Calibre 89 was built by a team of watchmakers at Patek Philippe & Cie, th e Geneva watch manufactory, to mark the company's 150th anniversary . Preliminar y calculations and designs were started in 1980, a working prototype was ready i n July 1988, and the watch was finally completed in April 1989 . The standards of manufacture are commensurate with the requirements of th e Geneva Seal. This hallmark is awarded to Geneva-made watches that meet th e standards of manufacture described in the law of the Republic and Canton o f Geneva of November 6, 1886, amended on October 23, 1959, governing the inspection of watches . All the photographs in this book represent the true size of the Calibre 89 .
