Tetê de poupée Gabriel Du Val, A Paris. Made circa 1680. Very fine and rare, brass, pewter and tortoiseshell Boulle marquetry, gilt-bronze mounted, hour and half-hour striking, 8-day going pendulum table clock.
C. Front and sides entirely decorated with Boulle marquetry in pewter, brass and tortoiseshell, with scrolling, stylized flowers, foliage and lambrequins, rectangular molded base, ormolu mounted edges, arch-top surmounted by an ormolu appliqué with two flaming vase finials on each side, ormolu bezel with leaf and flower decoration, four ormolu paw feet. D. Gilt brass with black painted radial Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches, outermost minutes numbered from 1 to 60, dial plate richly engraved with foliage and strapwork. Blued steel Louis XIV hands. M. Rectangular, 14 x 12.5 cm, brass full plate, baluster pillars, barrels for the going and striking trains, verge escapement, silk suspension, cycloidal cheeks, long pendulum with pear-shaped brass bob, brass count wheel set on the back plate, striking on a bell mounted on top of the case. Movement signed. Dim. Height 46 cm, width 25 cm, depth 17.5 cm.
