Cybele Fortin a Paris. Made circa 1710. Fine and rare, Louis XIV, silver oignon watch with two hands, silver pillars and backplate furniture.
C. Two-body, ?oignon?, the back chased and engraved with a scene of Cybele in a chariot drawn by lions, foliate, swag and trophy border and bezel, square hinge, loose ring pendant. D. Gilt, white enamel cartouches with radial black painted Roman numerals, inner white enamel quarter-hour ring, the center engraved with birds and foliage, outer minute track with white enamel Arabic minute cartouches, winding aperture at 3 o?clock. Blued steel beetle and poker hands. M. 47 mm, frosted gilt full plate, divided silver Egyptian pillars with fancy capitals, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, short balance spring, pierced and chased silver cock decorated with inhabited foliage and strapwork, Tompion-type regulator with silver scale disc, silver signature scrolls to each side. Movement signed. Diam. 59 mm.
