Venus and Cupid Jaques Castanier (Genève), No. 9041. Made circa 1775. Fine, gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pendant watch.

Two-body, ?Louis XV?, the back decorated with a painted on enamel scene of Venus and Cupid in a garden at the altar of love, blue and white enamel leaf border, bezel with engraved repeat pattern and set with rose-cut diamonds. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, outermost Arabic five-minute numerals. Pierced gold hands. M. 25 mm., matte gilt full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 32 mm.
