Cercles Tournants French. Made circa 1860. Very fine and rare, Louis XVI style gilt bronze and Sevres-style porcelain mounted, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking urn-form ?cercles tournants? table clock.
C. Porcelain urn decorated in pale blue and gilt with painted flower swags in white reserves, lid decorated to match with gilt-bronze leaf and berry finial, square gilt-bronze base fitted with porcelain panels to match the urn, finely cast and chased leaf decoration to the gilt-bronze mounts. D. Revolving rings set with white enamel panels for the Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute ones. Gilt-bronze arrow pointer to read the time. M. 98 mm., gilt brass plates, spring barrels for the going and striking trains, winding from the front side with extra wheels mounted on the barrel arbor, lateral lever escapement on a gilt platform, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell. Dim. 50 x 15 x 15 cm.
