Quarter-Repeating Johan Kiel in Stadtamhof. Made in Germany, circa 1800. Fine, large, quarter-repeating, silver and tortoiseshell pair-cased pocket watch.
C. Outer: two-body, silver and brass overlaid with tortoiseshell and with pique decoration. Inner: two-body, beaded and inclined bezel, back with pierced and engraved border. D. White enamel with bold radial Roman numerals, outerminute track, inner signature and gilt leaf decoration. Pierced brass hands. M. 40 mm., frosted gilt, full plate engraved with foliage, foliate engraved dial plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, pierced and engraved continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 70 mm.
