Notes

It is extremely unusual to find a watch signed with Martinique as the place of origin. This watch is of French construction and would either have been exported to Martinique for sale or perhaps made there by a French émigré watchmaker. Martinique, an overseas department of France, is an island in the eastern Caribbean Sea with a land area of 1,128 km². Its official language is French, although almost all of its inhabitants also speak Antillean Creole (Créole Martiniquais). For a note on independent dead center-seconds, see previous lot.
