C. three-body, Empire, the case back engraved with a fountain and a palm tree against straight line engine-turning, the border engraved with a repeated pattern, reeded band, hinged, spring-loaded gilt cuvette. D. white enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. M. 51.8 mm., gilt brass, 3/4 plate, cylinder escapement, gold balance, flat balance spring, repeating works set on the back plate allowing for viewing of the striking action, repeating on gongs by depresing the pendant, disc-type musical train with fixed barrel, 23 tuned teeth alternating on both sides of the pin disc, striking on the hour or on demand.Back cover stamped P&S, 3760* and 968.Diam. 60 mm

Notes

This watch features a very rare tempo-control mechanism. Since the power exerted on the music train decreases as the spring unwinds, this normally would result in the music being played more slowly. In this watch, a special mechanism continually changes the depth of the meshing of the governing pinion, controlling the tempo in function of the state of the spring.
