C.B., French. Produced circa 1890Fine, silver and enamel, singing bird box with pearls and rubies.

C. rectangular, top, sides and bird cover in cloisonné enamel with floral decoration over a purple background set with paillon stars, all panels set with rubies and pearls. Singing bird movement: going barrel, rectangular reservoir and bellows, the bird with moving wings and beak, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grill engraved with foliage. Stamped with French silver guarantee mark inside back cover and maker's mark "C.B" in lozenge, bottom plate stamped withungarian import marks for 0.750 silver.Dim 100 x 65 x 41 mm.
