Oeil de Boeuf Austrian, probably Vienna. Made circa 1830. Fine and rare, large, inlaid rosewood, eight day-going, quarter-striking with two hammers on two gongs, ?Oeil de Boeuf? wall clock with alarm and pin-wheel escapement. To be sold without reserve

Drum form, rosewood inlaid with boxwood stringing and stylised foliage, gilt bronze hinged reeded bezel, octagonal concave surround, large gilt brass ball and ring for wall mounting, pull cord for winding the alarm. D. White enamel, convex with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic fifteen minute numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands, extra hand for alarm setting. M. 11 cm., gilt brass, circular with flat base, cylindrical pillars, going barrels for both trains, pin-wheel escapement, spring suspension, brass bob pendulum, outside countwheel on the backplate for the quarters, rack for the hours, with two hammers on two gongs, extra hammer for the alarm sounding on a bell mounted above the movement. Diam. 40 cm.
