Ja. Upjohn & Co., London, No. 11806. Enamel painting attributed to a pupil of Moser. Probably made for the Irish market, circa 1770. Very fine and rare, Neo-Classical, 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch.
C. Two body, ?bassine?, entirely chased, the back decorated with a finely painted en grisaille scene of three putti weeping by a flower filled urn, white enamel dot frame, the border decorated with translucent royal blue enamel foliage and green enamel shamrock, blue and white enamel geometric pattern border, the bezel decorated to match. D. White enamel with upright Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and star five-minute divisions. Gilt Louis XV hands. M. Gilt brass full plate, square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, silver regulation dial. Movement signed. inner case with IW (John Ward) maker?s mark, Diam. 43.5 mm.
