Masmejan, Lavsane (Lausanne), No. 342. Made circa 1720. Very fine and rare, silver pair-cased pocket watch with alarm and silver pillars.
C. Outer: two-body, ?bassine?, polished. Inner: two-body, ?bassine?, deep back, the band finely pierced and chased with foliage and centered by a grotesque mask, winding apertures for the going and alarm trains. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost large Arabic five-minute numerals, female arbor for setting the alarm hand. Gold hour and minute hands, blued steel tulip alarm hand. M. 38 mm., gilt brass full plate, silver square baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved gilt brass cock and backplate furniture, polished steel endplate with faceted red endstone, silver regulation disc, silver signature plaque, alarm train with fixed brass barrel, steel train, sounding on a bell in the back of the case. Movement signed. Diam. 55 mm with outer case.
