A Country Couple Chr(istophe) Haberle, London. Made circa 1740. Fine and rare, 20K gold, half-quarter repeating, repoussé paircased pocket watch with a toc feature.
C. Outer: two-body, repoussé, decorated with a scene of a courting couple in a classical landscape, another lady seated in the foreground within a rococo cartouche, pierced border decorated with scrolls, bezel decorated to match. Inner: twobody, "bassine", polished, pierced and engraved with flowers and scrolls. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost five-minute Arabic numerals. Gilt pierced hands. M. 32 mm, frosted gilt full-plate with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case, a toc lever protruding from the bezel. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 46 mm.
