Notes
This intriguing watch movement is one of those made outside the
Breguet workshop by firms such as Oudin, Perrin and Bachelard.
In terms of basic construction it is very similar to a perpetuelle
watch by Bachelard, No. 254 (Christie?s Geneva, May 18, 2004,
lot 209), however, the finish of the movement suggests a later
date and it is possible that the movement was constructed in the
late 19th century using a real Breguet dial for a perpetuelle watch.
The dial is signed on the reverse by Vincent, one of Breguet?s dial
makers. The lever escapement is based on Breguet?s final development of the lever escapement for his later, thin perpetuelles,
but the construction of the actual parts is much heavier.
