Two-Day Marine Chronometer J. Fournier a Paris, No. 1582. Made circa 1895. Fine, mahogany-cased, 49-hour going marine chronometer with power- reserve indication and ratchet key.
C. Three-tier mahogany box with external brass handles, glazed upper section with hinged lid, the middle section with applied bone signature plaque. Brass circular gimbal and bowl. D. 95 mm., silvered with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and power-reserve sector. Gilt brass spade hands. M. 72 cm., brass full plate, the barrel held by a detachable bridge, with tapered cylindrical pillars, reversed fusee with chain and maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement (detent missing), two-arm bimetallic compensation balance with large cylindrical temperature weights and meantime nuts, free sprung polished steel helical balance spring held in an adjustable stud, diamond endstone. Dial and movement and box signed. Dim. 17 x 17.5 x 17 cm.
