Notes

Minute repeating watches with more than two hammers are very rare before about 1900. The present watch is not a carillion like the later three-hammer watches but uses a hammer to strike the hours, then the hour hammer and a quarter hammer strike the quarters, and finally another hammer strikes the minutes only.
