The Butterfly Des Arts & Cie a Geneve, No. 53222. Made circa 1810. Fine and unusual, 18K gold and champleve enamel, quarterrepeating pocket watch.

Three body, ?Directoire?, the band with champleve enameled geometrical decoration, the back with hinged glazed cover, centred with a champleve enameled butterfly on an engine-turned ground with outer champleve enameled floral decoration against a black enameled ground. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Gold skeleton tulip hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 42 mm.
