Doves and Flowers Dimier, Genève. Made for the Chinese market circa 1850. Fine, large, gilt and painted on enamel, pearl-set, center-seconds pocket watch with partially mirror-polished movement.

C. Three-body, "Empire", spring-loaded back painted on enamel with a two white doves amongst flowers, lilac ground, pearlset bezels, pendant and bow. Gilt-rimmed glazed cuvette. D. White enamel, large narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions. Blued steel ovoid hands. M. 52 mm., Chinese calibre, mirror-polished steel bridges and free-standing barrel, matte gilt plate decorated with engraved appliqués of birds and flowers, jewelled to the center wheel, straight-line lever escapement, the counterpoise set with a red cabochon, three-arm steel balance with blued steel ?wings?, flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed. Diam. 62 mm.

Dimier et Cie Recorded as being active around 1835 in the rue Croix d'Or 27, they exported small watches in gilt brass, or gold and enamel, cases, often with a pearl-set floral decor. They are further recorded at Quai des Bergues, 31 in 1857 and Quai des Etuves, 31, in 1860.
