The Golden Carp and the Octopus Henriod Frères, Bienne, case No. 427435. Made circa 1890. Very fine and unusual, silver and gold nielloed, hunting cased keyless pocket watch with nielloed silver and gold long chain.

C. Three-body, ?bassine?, hinged and sprung front bcover decorated with a golden carp in a pool amongst water plants, the back cover decorate with an octopus amongst water plants, gold bow. Glazed silver-rimmed cover over the movement. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XV hands. M. 18???, rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Case with the trademark of Henriod Frères. Diam. 52 mm.
