Notes
While tourmalinated and rutilated quartz are fairly common gemstones, these are usually found with masses of randomly oriented crystals (of either tourmaline or rutile). This piece of quartz is so unique because of the singularity of the crystal, and is spectacular because of the skill and imagination of the cutter in his ability to fashion this gem and create the illusion so perfectly exhibited throughout the stone.
