French. Made circa 1730. Fine, faux tortoiseshell painted, 8-day going bracket timepiece with pull-wind alarm.

C. Painted wood in imitation of tortoiseshell, glazed on four sides, inverted bell-top with brass handle, broken arch pediment, outswept base, turned brass feet. D. White enamel, convex, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals, central brass alarm setting disc with corresponding hand. Pierced steel hands. M. 12 x 8 cm. gilt brass, four cylindrical pillars, large going barrel, verge escapement, silk suspension, brass bob pendulum with rating nut, pull-wind alarm on a bell mounted in the top of the case. Dim. 31.5 x 21 x 12 cm.
