Silver & Enamel Jewel Casket Austro-Hungarian. Made circa 1870. Very fine, Neo-Renaissance, silver-gilt and painted on enamel jewel casket, the enamel panels depicting the story of Perseus and Andromeda.

Rectangular, the four sides and hinged lid each set with a finely painted on enamel oval plaque depicting scenes from the story of Perseus and Andromeda, stylised foliate borders with ivory-colored champleve enamel, corner pillars fluted with champleve enamel lines, outer greek-key borders, the corners with applied black and white champleve enamelled anthemions, black hardstone base, four bun feet with champleve enamel decoration, the interior lined with black hardstone panels. Dim. 9.5 x 18.5 x 11 cm.
