W(illia)m. Hayden, London, No. 696. Made circa 1720. Fine, silver-gilt pair-cased pocket watch with silver-topped pillars.
C. Outer: Two-body, gilt metal overlaid with skin and with pique decoration. Inner: Two-body, gilt, ?bassine?, deep back, polished, split bezel. D. Silver champleve with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost Arabic five-minute numerals, the center with ornate signature cartouches. Blued steel beetle and poker hands. M. 42 mm., gilt full plate, divided Egyptian pillars with fluted silver capitals (one missing), fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, finely pierced and engraved balance cock and backplate furniture, the cock with small streamers, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 57 mm.
