Lever Chronometer with Power-Reserve L. Leroy & Cie, Hgers A Paris, case No. 80190. Made circa 1900. Very fine and rare, 18K gold, keyless pocket lever chronometer for Besançon Observatory Timing Contest, with power-reserve indication and the original Leroy morocco leather-covered box.
C. Three-body, heavy, "form collier?, polished, flat band. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, sector below 12 for the powerreserve. Gold spade hands. M. 20???, frosted gilt, 18 jewels, wolf?s tooth winding, stamped with the Besançon viper?s head mark, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial and case signed. Diam. 52 mm.
