Pivoted Detent Pocket Chronometer J. Russel & Fils, Swiss, "Chronometre," No. 23324. Made circa 1870. Very fine and rare, 18K yellow gold, hunting-cased, pocket chronometer with pivoted detent escapement. To be sold without reserve
C. Four-body, "bassine et filets," engine-turned with polished borders, spring-loaded front cover with small central engraved monogram. Hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border. D. White enamel with bold radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds dial. Gold spade hands. M. Cal. 42 mm., 19''', frosted gilt, jeweled to the third wheel, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral gold timing screws, blued steel balance spring with terminal curve, index regulator. Cuvette signed and numbered. Diam. 50 mm.
